Hey, City Harvest Church is NOT so bad!!

Is it only me or am I spotting the correct "trends"?

After I wrote a post titled Why am I Catholic.. and will always be?, several posts at ping.sg seems to attack City Harvest Church like this one.

And before you start to ask my standing, I have make it very clear since long time ago, I am not against any church. City Harvest has revolutionized Christianity in Singapore, taking it to a higher level. Proof? My roommate. He is a member of CHC, and everyday he prays and reads bible longer than what I usually do for 3 days, and with more thought and commitment.

However, there are some people who are not very comfortable with the church and its teaching. I guess it's just a matter of preference, some people like to drink a hot coffee and some like to add ice to it. No matter what's your preference, coffee (served hot or cold) is scientifically proven to freshen your body if taken moderately.

Come on guys, Instead of attacking other churches or christian denominations, and doing research what are the not-so-good things about them, why not picking up the bible and reading it. Instead of correcting other churches' style of worship, why not making this world a bit friendlier by doing our bit. I guess God won't ask which church we are going, He will ask how many people have known God better because of us.

There's no attack on their style of worship. Messages preached and lessons taught are not styles of worship. Wrong or misleading doctrine, on the other hand, is a different issue altogether.

I hope that clears it up somewhat.

Shalom.

but u cannot judge the whole church just based on one member of the church...

the pastor, however, is a different story. what he teaches will affect the entire congregation, the image of the church. he *does* talk excessively on financial goals, etc. im really uncomfortable about that, i admit.

anyway, there are different levels of belief in christians themselves. not all christians are true christians. i can say this because i was in chc. a lot of people (youths) there are only at the church to make new friends, find a bf/gf, have fun gatherings to go to.

and that is how chc attracts youths. with its social gatherings, n its huge social network.

not all members of chc are bad. some really DO believe. but there are also people like i mentioned above, n they really outnumber those who do truly believe.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

To Daphne,
I do agree we can't judge a church with one person as the only sample.

Hmm, regarding financial goals, i think u are right, they talk a lot regarding some topics which are secular and not so "biblical". But I think CHC members are among the most generous Christians in Singapore. They earn a lot and they give to church and other charity organizations a lot also. Although I believe our heart is more important than the sum of money we give, I think giving generously makes God really proud (of course, if we give it with the correct motives).

I wholeheartedly believe we attend church to praise God and to deepen our relationship with Him, so I think it's just so wrong to have wrong motive.

For Sicarii,
I read ur blog and I, indeed, thank God because of u. This world needs more people like you.
Btw, I dont attack ur blog, i just give example. The "style of worship" thingy is from other blog which i read before but cant find until now.

God bless you all ;)

Thank you for the enouragement, Ben. I am nothing but doing the work of God in my little blog-based ministry, no big deal. :)

There are bigger people of God than me. If you have time, do have a listen to great preachers like Paul Washer and John Piper whose sermons can help you change your walk with God for the better!

God bless, and Shalom!
