After several "deep thought" posts about my ambition and my opinion towards life, i decided to write something lighter. Shopping!!
Today I finished my Lab at 3.30 pm. In that Lab session, we need to present our project. Everything went alright and I am quite proud with it. I think my presentation skill is getting better and better everyday (haha.. :D)
After that, my friend, Theresia called me whether I want to go to Jurong Point. JP is the nearest shopping mall to my university which is located very far away from any entertainment and shopping place. No wonder everyone looks so nerd and doesn't have any fashion sense (except Business and Comm Studies students maybe.. haha)
I am not a person who adore shopping. However, when you see a Lee Copper jeans for $17, u just can't resist it. I only take less than 2 minutes to decide to buy and total time spent is less than 8 minutes (paying and everything). You see, men are so efficient ^^
After that, I went to the gym, followed by eating one big watermelon (3 of us, Theresia, Rui Ping and me eating), and lastly badminton session. What an amazing day. It's just like I forgot that exam will be starting 30 days from now. Haha.. so slack. Now it's time for me to study hard. I need to catch up a lot of subjects.. Jia you Ben!

Do It Anyway...
Have you ever felt that someone take you for granted? The one that you love with all your heart just doesn't give you a damn?
I personally do. Not once, not twice, it happens so often. In the past, I used to be extremely depressed because of that.
However, a poem by the extraordinary Mother Theresa changed my way of thinking completely.
Do It Anyway - Mother Theresa
People are often unreasonable, illogical,
And self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you
Of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some
False friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank;
People may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

I and My Fake SmileS
"Smiling to people you meet. Maybe that's the only sunshine they receive for the whole day."
I understand that quote very well. In fact, long before I even knew that such quote exists, I have been practicing that all the time.
Some of my friends pointed out to me. IS MY SMILE REAL? AM I REALLY HAPPY ALL THE TIME?
I can say, yes, I always have a good time (and if i really do, i will be approaching Saint or whatever they call for someone who has received enlightenment)
However, because this blog is my truly best friend, I want to be honest. I guess, about 60 to 70 percent of my smiles ARE FAKE. I am stating the fact.
There are good times in my life, there are bad times also. I am no better than average people out there. However, I ve been trying to show my good times to everyone, and keep my sad and anger within myself.
No matter what I experienced, I want to look happy, strong, and problem-free all the time. I can be very stressful but I will never ever show that to people. I can be very sad, and by that time, I will practice one of my best skills, my ability to fake my smile. Sometimes I can only sleep for 3 or 4 hours, but still look very fresh.
Come on! Noone likes pale, sad, or angry face. Fake it man! Fake it!
And by the way, I am very proud with that skill, really.

David Beckham and his BIG heart
Rebecca Johnstone is only 19 and she is dying from cancer. It began with a mole on her collarbone that the doctors said not to worry about 3 years ago.
Today, the beautiful young girl's life is measured in days, not months. But before this happened she spent her days like any young teen, enjoying all the great things life has to offer. One of her passions was playing soccer. Another was David Beckham. Rebecca has his "posters on her walls. Reads everything she can about him. Follows the English star's career. Loves the way he plays. Even shares a moniker. When she plays, her teammates strap an M onto the end of her nickname -- Becca -- and make her sound just like her soccer idol."
But now, Rebecca spends most of her life in bed. So when she got a phone call recently, her mother was loathe to disturb her until the person on the other end of the line told her who he was: David Beckham. She woke Rebecca up. Rebecca didn't want to talk to anyone. Her throat was painful and her voice raspy from all the surgery. But she took the call.
"in the most strained of voices, Becca and Becks talked about soccer. He asked how she was doing. Told her he'd heard she was a big fan. Even mentioned that he liked her nickname. He asked if there was anything he could do for her. When she said no, he asked if he could send her something. She didn't say no to that. Then he told her to get in touch if she needed anything."
What joy that must have brought to Rebecca and her family at a time when there's little for them to rejoice about. How grateful they must be to Beckham and the aunt who went to so much trouble to research where and how she could reach David Beckham. And how nice of him to take time out to do this for a dying fan.
Rebecca was too weak to talk to reporters at the paper about this wonderful event, but it wasn't the end of the story.
"just when she needed it most, Beckham intervened again. On Monday, a parcel arrived from Madrid, where Beckham plays. Inside was one of his authentic Real Madrid game jerseys. On the back, next to the number, he'd written: To Rebecca, With Love, David Beckham, 23.
Yesterday, at his first public appearance at Old Trafford 4 years after he moved to Real Madrid from ManU, this is what he said to his fans.
”I’ve waited four years to actually come back and to actually say thank you to the fans and the people of the club. I think I wouldn’t have got through many things without the people in this stadium. Everybody knows here that you’ve got the best manager in the world at this club. I think this team is going to be incredible, and I think they’re going to go on and win many things, not just this year but throughout many years to come. So good luck and thank you"
He knows how to thank everyone, including his former manager who, many people said, was the reason of his leaving from ManU.
David Beckham, good luck for your career. For me, you are still one the best footballers in the world. Or at least, a footballer with a big heart.

Heartless Creature??
Everyone dreams to be a tough and fearless person. When I was 6 year old, that’s the ideal image I would like to have. I guess I am successful to achieve that. However, that really frightens me a lot.
When my dear Grandma passed away about 4 years ago, I am the only one in my family who didn’t cry at all. I love her so much, no question about that… but I just couldn’t cry. I try my best to cry but I simply failed.
When my friends and I go to Genting and try so many games like Roller Coaster etc, Everyone in my group is screaming so loud but I didn’t even feel afraid at all.
When I watch horror movie, I don’t feel that it’s frightening (Hey Mr Director, your work sucks!)
I still remember when I was 15 and I did Biology lab and we were asked to observe intestine and whatever inside cat's, mouse's and fish’s stomach, I teared those animals’ stomach heartlessly. I didn’t feel disgusted at all.
And by the way, I have never been frightened by any ghost story for my whole life. I can pass through the haunted places with smile. Yes, with smile. Ghost-story makers out there, I appreciate your good composition skill, but you must try harder next time.
Am I a heartless creature??
Am I robot?
Am I normal?
Am I still human???
Those questions bug me like crazy until I do soul-searching.
And I realize…
My heart hurts when I heart so many people became victims of earthquake.
My heart hurts when my student at Singapore’s Boys Home can’t do their homework, and I am very proud that I can give my bit to help them.
My heart hurts when the person I love experienced a difficult time.
And most importantly, hey! I can fall in love, finally, after so long.
Falling in love is the best evidence that I am still human. Case closed.

I am a Volunteer. How about you??
I have just come back from volunteering at Singapore Boys’ Home (It is a hostel for boys under 16 years of age admitted by the Courts). It has been a long time since the last time I volunteered myself. Actually, since last semester, I always want to volunteer every Thursday. However, due to my packed schedule, I always have meeting on Thursdays till very late at night. After one of the events I organized finished, I can have more free time and it’s time for me to fulfill my plan since long time ago… Yeah! Singapore Boys’ Home… I am coming!
When I reached the hostel, the boys were having some recreational activities. Some of the boys performed some kind of magic tricks and a magician was invited to entertain them. He is a good magician. However, that’s not the thing amazed me the most. It’s the way he spoke to the boys. One of his sentences is “Among the magic I see tonight, the most magical thing I see is that you have the courage to stand here, to prepare your entertainment, and to be able present well. That’s really magical.” He really knew how to boost the boys’ self-esteem. And that’s really magical for me!
After that recreational activity, the boys had their study time, and we (NTU students who volunteer there) helped them with their study. I can still remember that when I was in their age, I found no difficulty doing Math, Science, and English. That’s why I felt so frustrated facing the fact that the boy I taught can’t understand very simple Math concept. I guess the boy felt my frustration and told me “Sorry, my Math is a bit slow.” That short sentence really slapped me in my face. It’s like I was reminded that some people need more time to understand a concept and I should be very patient with them. I answered him “Not a problem at all. Take your time...” That sentence was complimented with my sincerest smile, of course =)
I strongly believe that every boy (or every child in a more general term) in this world DESERVES a good education. That education not only comes from their school, but also from people around them. As a guy myself, I understand very well that… as a teen, a boy needs someone who LISTENS to them… who CARES for them… who believes in their potential. And that’s exactly why we volunteer. It’s not only about teaching Math, Science, or English. It’s about giving our heart to someone who needs it. It’s about doing our bit to the one who deserves it. It’s about giving back to society what we owe. It’s about making this world a little bit friendlier.
And above everything… sincerity is the most important thing. I believe that this world needs more ordinary person like you and me… who has a sincere heart and a courage to make a difference to other people’s lives.
Let’s volunteer!

Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Wish all of you a Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year!!!
Here is a joke I got from my friend.
Some interesting theories about human and pigs (Warning! It's purely joke =P)
Human = eat + sleep + work + enjoy
Pigs = eat + sleep
Hence, Human = Pigs + work + enjoy
Human - enjoy = Pigs + work
In other words, Human that don't know how to enjoy = pigs that work
Men = eat + sleep + earn money
Pigs = eat + sleep
Hence, Men = Pigs + earn money
Men - earn money = Pigs
In other words, Men that don't earn money = Pigs
Women = eat + sleep + spend
Pigs = eat + sleep
Hence, Women = Pigs + spend
Women - spend = Pigs
In other words, Women that don't spend = Pigs
Conclusion:
1. Men earn money not to let women become pigs! Women spend not to let men become pigs!
2. Men + Women = eat + sleep + earn money + eat + sleep +spend money
= 2 (eat + sleep)
= 2 pigs!!
Peace ^^V

Valentine's Day - Love is in the air!!
How to celebrate V-Day? I got some tips for you :)
1. Cook a nice meal. There’s nothing more touching than a sincere effort to cook a nice meal for that special someone. Your masterpiece may not tastes so nice or looks so good, but almost everyone will appreciate it. I myself tried this before. I borrowed a recipe book from library at 7 pm, bought the ingredients at 8 pm and got everything ready by midnight. Although my culinary skill is definitely much below standard, but sincerity definitely pays off.
2. Send romantic sms or E-mail or Voice mail. Try to compose them by yourself. However, if you can’t figure it out, Google is always there to help you =)
3. Go traveling or shopping. If both of you are not very busy, traveling to nearby place is an excellent thing to do. However, if that’s not possible... Yes! Girls know it better. Shopping is just a perfect substitute.
4. Dining Out. No McDonald please. If you can’t afford to go to romantic restaurant to eat (which is usually overpriced), any quiet place will do.
5. Write a love letter or record a love song. Unless you go for a singing contest, the quality of your voice is secondary. If your girl/boyfriend wants to listen to nice voice, he/she can always listen to Christina Aguilera or Josh Groban. Again… your effort to prepare something unusual will impress almost everyone.
6. Visit an orphanage house or volunteer together. A romantic guy/girl with a golden heart is definitely one in a million. If you think that you are the most miserable person in the world, type “volunteer” using Google and you will start to think how lucky you are.
7. Go out with friends. If you are single, well... start calling your friends. Ask them to go out to unusual places. Hanging out at good cafe and have a good time. Do some sports. Cook together. Watch movies. There are so many nice things to do.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone… Let’s spread our love to the world!

International Games 2007.. Push My Limit..
Continue from my last post, at the end of the day, when you feel that you can manage your task nicely, there are 2 possibilities. First, you have mastered, so called, time management (Congrats..!). Second, your task is not challenging enough. If life is a game, I don’t like winning too easily (although losing is definitely worse).
In International Games 2007 (IG2007), for the first time in my life, I feel that I need to utilize all my body, mind, time, and energy. It’s indeed tiring. But for me, tired feeling is always a positive sign. It’s a sign that you have accomplished something worth mentioned. I am still a normal person who enjoys sleep without alarm and going for holiday without thinking about school and work. But when it comes to tasks, assignments, and projects, I will definitely give my 150% to each one of them.
For 2 weeks, I only have 4 hours to sleep everyday. And I need to sleep with my phone lying just beside me. As a vice-chairperson, I need to always be ready to entertain the events’ sponsors and my committee members. Whenever they need help about the event, I assure them that they can always approach me anytime and I will do whatever I can to help them. That also applies to all my friends and everyone who knows me. If you know me quite well, you will understand that I really mean what I say.
IG finally reached its end. Despite all the criticism, I can say that it’s a big success. I want to thank all the people who are involved in this event. All the committee members who have worked extremely hard... All the sponsors who put trust on our event... And most importantly, for NTU... From the bottom of my heart, thank you sooooo much!!
That success makes me believe in myself even more than ever. And because of that, I have made up my mind to apply for Business Executive of NTUSU next year. It's not about ECA points. It's about passion. It's about making a difference. (I need to make it clear from the very beginning).
And now, it’s time for me to go back to my study. Accomplishing so much in organizational fields doesn't mean that I can compromise my school result. I will never tolerate anything but the very best (for me, it means a straight A result this semester).

My Priorities in Life
These weeks are like hell for me. I have to work from dead morning till evening, and have to attend a lot of meetings. I always thought I can manage my time well, but I just found out at the end of the day that I am always extremely exhausted. Maybe it’s a clear sign that I just do too much...
Being a vice president of International Games, an Olympic-like event in my university, where all the students compete in sport and grouped according to their countries, make me have to stretch my mind a lot, think and strategize many aspects of that event. I am also a program director of Ministerial Forum, Business Manager of Indo-NTU Year Book, Public Relation Officer of Overseas Expedition Program (We will be going to Myanmar to volunteer this June), a volunteer at a boys’ hostel, and as a badminton captain.
However, being able to accomplish so much is not without trade-off. I only sleep 5 to 6 hours a day during weekdays. That’s really a challenge for me who adore sleeping and eating :D
What are my priorities in life? That’s a question that I always ask myself when I am exhausted. Finally, I spent my precious Sunday night to think about it. Study and work come first. Organization stuffs come second. Inside organization stuffs, I am always very clear that International Games top the rest of my organization activities.
Friends and family are also extremely important for me. I am willing to spend hours of my time to enjoy quality time with my friends. Even after that, I have to cut my relax time into half.
Reading is my past time favorite. I used to finish at least 1 200-page book every week, but I don’t have time to read anymore. Currently I force myself to read a book titled “Time Power” by the famous Brian Tracy.
Badminton is the only sport I love passionately since I was 8. But with my busy schedule, I find that going to gym is much more efficient and less time consuming. It’s only 1 hour compared to 3 or 4 hours of badminton. I am proud to say that despite my tight schedule, I can always find time to go to gym twice a week. Who doesn’t fancy Brad Pitt-like body anyway?
Church? I am always touched every time I read stories about people who place church and other religious activities in top of their other activities. But I don’t want to be hypocrite to say that I am a very religious person. I just haven’t reached that level. I attend mass every week, and read bible everyday, but that’s the only time when I can feel an angelic-halo around my head.
Am I doing too much? Only time can answer this question. But for now, I just try to enjoy every second of my life and experience how to be a person whose time is measured by minute, not hour.
